Transition Towns Africa
Scott sent me the link to the website of another amazing organisation which is focusing on the upliftment of communities all around the world. They say about themselves, “Transition Towns Africa is an Initiating Hub for towns and suburbs that want to begin taking responsibility for their own sustainability, in the light of climate change, economic instability, possible electricity and water shortages, inadequate municipal services, and rising fuel and food costs. The issues of peak oil and climate change mean that change is coming whether we like it or not – and a planned response to the change will leave us in a much stronger position than if we wait until change is upon us.”
The focus is on supporting and growing our own communiities by buying local, growing local, eating locally grown food, using local energy and trading with local money.
I just think that Transition Towns have hit the nail on the head. It’s an organisation which is acknowledging that everything on earth is inter-connected and that all of us need to focus our energy and resources on the people who live and work around us. Team work :)
See the website for more info about the organisation and talks that they’ll be holding.
