M’Afrique

Thanks to the Elle Decoration blog, I came across this article  on Yatzer. It showcases a project which was initiated by Patrizia Moroso, and displayed in her Milan showroom. The installation was designed by Stephen Burks. Patricia felt that “multifaceted, modern Africa deserves to be known and sustained for the originality of the creative languages with which it enriches global culture”.

If you’re interested to read more about the designers of the individual pieces, it’s definitely worth reading about them  here. To end, I want to share this quote from the article with you, by Maya Angelou: “There is an image, an idea of Africa that lives deep in human imaginations. Its form often transcends the power of the word and its profile lies under layers of conscious retrieval. It is alive within each one of us on a primordial level, inexplicable yet undeniable”.

PS. For those of you interested in reading my post about some other weavers of contemporary African pieces, take a look at the Ideas Magazine blog.
